What money should be given to God?

One of the dominant characteristics of Jesus Christ was unselfishness. He said, "I have come down from heaven not to do my own will but to do the will of Him who sent Me" (John 6:3 . You should be unselfish too, starting with the area of giving to God. The tithe is the first fruit of your income. It should be given to God before any other debt is paid. Tithing is one of God's fundamental principles. The tithe is a tenth of all your income and it belongs to God. It is alsogood to give offerings over and above your tithe. All your giving should be motivated by an unselfish love for God and for the world, which has great physical and spiritual needs. If you learn to give and give generously, you will learn the secret of a great blessing. The Bible says, "Whoever sows sparingly will reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously" (2 Cointhians 9:6). As you give to God, you provide Him with the opportunity to richly bless you--not only financially, but in every area of your life.

Read Leviticus 27:30. To whom does the tithe or tenth belong? Read Malachi 3:8-10. Of what has God been robbed? Where should the tithe be taken? What is promised to those who tithe? Read 2 Corinthians 9:7. What should your attitude be when you give? Read 2 Corinthians 9:8-11. Give two reasons why God blesses you with His abundance. Read 1 Corinthians 9:14 and Galatians 6:6. How should Christian preachers and teachers be supported?
